Engineering Above the Waterline: Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade

It’s not every day that Ratio Structural Engineering’s Marine Engineering team is called to work 170 metres above sea level—but the Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade Project was no ordinary assignment.

We are proud to support the AELGP and their contractors on this logistically demanding and technically complex project. With the remote site location and significant transportation constraints, modular barges became essential to the success of the operation.

Our scope of work included:

  • Barge layout design, crane barge stability analysis, and load chart development
  • Ballasting plans to ensure safe and balanced operations
  • STS transfer of heavy equipment and cranes
  • Lift planning and lashing design for secure and efficient handling
  • Flow force evaluations and mooring analysis under dynamic hydraulic conditions
  • Marine and rock anchor design for safe and stable positioning
